Diocesan Administrator Fr. P.J. Madden announces several new pastoral appointments, all effective August 15, 2022.

The Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana (CFSL) made its annual grant distributions this month, exceeding more than $1.3 million in grant distributions in the past five years for restricted ministries.

On Saturday, June 4, 2022, the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux celebrated the ordination of two priests and one transitional deacon. Archbishop Shelton Fabre returned to the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales as the ordaining prelate.

The Mother Teresa Women's Giving Circle has granted $101,000 to seven local nonprofits directly impacting the lives of women, children and families. On Thursday, May 12, members of the group joined together to present the grants at the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux Pastoral Center.

Diocesan Administrator Very Rev. P.J. Madden announced that diocesan vicars Very Revs. Simon Peter Engurait, Mark Toups and Vicente DeLa Cruz have been reappointed to their respective offices during this time of transition.

The Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux is pleased to announce that the College of Consultors has elected Rev. Patrick John Madden as the new Diocesan Administrator. He will serve the diocese as its leader until the Holy Father appoints a new bishop and that bishop is formally installed in the diocese.

All Catholic schools in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux will actively participate in the national Catholic Schools Week, to be celebrated January 30-February 5.

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Bayou Recovery Fund for Hurricane Ida Relief from the Bayou Community Foundation.

The week before Christmas the Catholic Foundation of South Louisiana traveled across Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes presenting gifts to area Catholic and public schools.

Our Sunday Visitor magazine's current issue features their Catholics of the Year. "Bishop Fabre is a true witness to the goodness of God," is what they wrote as they featured Bishop Fabre in the list.

With 1,411 donors, a total of $842,878 was raised for local community during the 24-hour online giving event held on #GivingTuesday (November 30, 2021). The Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux raised the second-highest figure of all Louisiana dioceses, and was ranked seventh nationally.

On 19 October 2021, in accord with canon 1364, §1, the Most Rev. Shelton J. Fabre issued a canonical decree formally declaring that the REV. JAMES R. MORRISON has, by his commission of the offenses of schism and heresy, incurred the penalty of excommunication and is now entirely irregular for the exercise of holy orders pursuant to the Code of Canon Law. 

The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux recently partnered with the Lafourche Parish District Attorney’s Office to extend the incredible efforts of ‘The Pantry’ to the six Catholic schools within Lafourche Parish.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, all Lafourche Parish Schools, including the six diocesan Catholic schools located in Lafourche, will be releasing today one hour earlier than the normal scheduled dismissal.

With our current isolation and quarantine protocols fully remaining in place, we are no longer requiring the use of masks in our schools effective tomorrow, Wednesday, October 27, 2021.  Please note that face coverings are still optional for any students or staff members choosing to do so.
