After nearly five years of recovery following Hurricane Ida, Holy Savior Catholic Church at 612 Main Street in Lockport reopened its doors to parishioners on Saturday, June 13. Bishop Simon Peter Engurait celebrated the Blessing of the Altar and Rededication of the Church during a 10 a.m. Mass, marking the final church reopening in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux following the storm in August 2021.
After consultation with the Priests’ Personnel Board, and with their favorable recommendation, Most Revered Simon Peter Engurait, sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, is pleased to make the following clergy announcements and appointments, effective July 1, 2026. The Blessing of the Altar and Rededication of the Church was celebrated by Bishop Simon Peter Engurait on Saturday, May 23, during the 4 p.m. Pentecost Vigil Mass.
The Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux has named Amy Vaccarella the new Superintendent of Catholic Schools, effective July 1, 2026. She succeeds Dr. Mark Williams, who served in this role for the past four years.
SCHRIEVER, LA- After four years and four months of extensive renovation, St. Charles Borromeo Church, located at 1985 Highway 308 in Thibodaux, reopened its doors on Sunday at 10 a.m. with a Mass, church blessing, and altar dedication by Bishop Simon Peter Engurait.
