On June 5, 2027, the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux will celebrate 50 years as a local Church.
For five decades, Catholic life in South Louisiana has been shaped by the people who call this Diocese home. Generations of families have passed on the faith. Priests, deacons, religious, teachers and laypeople have served their communities. Through hurricanes, challenges and seasons of change, our parishes have remained places of faith, hope and belonging.
Today, the Diocese is home to 39 parishes, 10 Catholic schools and more than 32,000 households. But our story has never been about numbers. It is about people: the families gathered at Mass, the children learning their faith, the volunteers who quietly serve, and the countless men and women who have helped build up the Church we know today.
As we celebrate 50 years, we give thanks for those who came before us, celebrate the faith we share today and look with hope toward the future.
