  • About the Study

As our diocesan strategic plan continues to unfold, a new area that we will begin to implement is new formation initiatives for adults.

Why We Believe | Rediscover Your Faith is a new 8-part study focusing on the most commonly asked questions about the Catholic Faith.  This study is available to  every person  in the diocese of Houma-Thibodaux free of charge.

Dr. Brant Pitre, professor of Sacred Scripture at Notre Dame Seminary and native of this diocese, has partnered  with us to create this study.  He is our presenter throughout the study.

The 8 parts are as follows:

    Week 1:  Does God Exist?

    Week 2:  Is Jesus God?

Week 3:  Peter and the Papacy

Week 4:  How We Got the Bible

Week 5:  The Eucharist: Jesus’ Real Presence?

Week 6:  Why Confess to a Priest?

Week 7:  Do Catholics Worship Mary?

Week 8:  Purgatory and Prayers for the Dead

Each week's study will include a 35-minute video with Dr. Pitre, downloadable notes to follow along with him, and a list of resource links for further study of the topic at hand.

These 8 videos are available here on our website and will remain here for your use.
