TIMELINE FOR SCHEDULING A COUPLE
FOR THE DIOCESAN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2026
August - September 2026:Parishes are asked to announce the Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration in their parish bulletins and invite couples celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, or greater wedding anniversary during 2026 to register using the diocesan online registration form. A sample bulletin announcement is provided below.September 18, 2026:Final day for parishes to register anniversary couples using the diocesan online registration form for the Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration with Bishop Simon Peter Engurait. Couples registered by this deadline will be included in the printed program and will receive a commemorative diocesan anniversary certificate.Diocesan Celebration (October 3, 2026):Couples who have registered to attend the Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration with Bishop Simon Peter Engurait, hosted by the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux through the Office of Worship, will receive their diocesan anniversary certificate following the celebration and will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with the bishop during the reception.Individual Parish Wedding Anniversary CelebrationsIn addition to the diocesan-wide celebration, individual parishes are encouraged to host their own Wedding Anniversary Celebration at a time that is most appropriate for their parish community. Please determine the parish Mass at which anniversary certificates will be presented to your celebrating couples and announce this celebration in your parish bulletin.The Order for the Blessing of a Married Couple within Mass from the Book of Blessings is recommended for use during the parish celebration. Additional resources to assist with parish celebrations are available under the Parish Resources tab on the Office of Worship’s diocesan website.Sample Bulletin AnnouncementThe Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux, through the Office of Worship, invites all couples who are married in the Catholic Church and are celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, or greater wedding anniversary during 2026 to attend the annual Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration. The celebration will take place on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Francis de Sales in Houma and will be celebrated by Bishop Simon Peter Engurait.Couples wishing to participate should contact the parish office no later than Friday, September 18, 2026, to register. Registered couples attending the diocesan celebration will receive an inscribed diocesan anniversary certificate following Mass and will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken with Bishop Simon Peter Engurait during the reception.Diocesan Registration FormThe registration form is available to the left of this. Please complete the form no later than Friday, September 18, 2026, and be sure to click the Submit button after entering all of the required information. During the fourth week of September, the Office of Worship will email each parish a list of the registered couples from that parish. Please review the information carefully and notify the Office of Worship of any corrections as soon as possible.
